Here’s one of my shoots which appeared in The Sun over the weekend. This shoot was cheestastic. How could we resist though, as model Laura’s surname is Fan.. so while her hair was blowing using my amazing argos fan we kept saying stuff like “Laura, you look FANtastic” etc. fun times for sure!

Bere : beware Facebook, fashion and fans unite to declare Ryan one red-hot Green

by Una Mullally

NATURAL resources might be one of his ministerial briefs, but according to an increasing fanbase, Eamon Ryan’s most valuable resource is apparently his own natural beauty. The Green Party minister is gaining a sort of cult status online ever since a Facebook group was set up called “Eamon Ryan - Sexiest Politician in Ireland”. Although this fan site had some involvement from Young Greens, his popularity has since mushroomed across blogs, with some internet wags photo-shopping his face on to David Hasselhoff ’s body (pictured) and on to Michelangelo’s statue of David, a symbol of ultimate male beauty.Even Damien Mulley, probably the most powerful blogger in Ireland, got in on the act, writing a satirical post from Ryan’s point of view titled, “Eamon ‘I brought sexy back but in a carbon neutral way’ Ryan”.

So could Ryan have a future trading not on his politics and policy, but on his looks? Fashion photographer Lili Forberg, who is more used to shooting catwalk shows and the model portfolios of Rosanna Davison and Glenda Gilson, thinks Ryan needn’t worry if politics doesn’t work out. “I think Eamon has a great face, ” she told the Sunday Tribune, after closely examining some shots. “He would have a good chance in the modelling industry in Ireland, especially if he has the height. He has very strong facial features and I would see him doing well in shows as well as commercial modelling.” That is not to say Ryan hasn’t some way to go before reaching the heights that Forberg’s regular clients have. “Browsing through photographs of him, I noticed that there are some very strong shots but also some weaker non flattering pictures, ” Forberg said, before offering some sound advice to the Green Party man. “I would advise him to practice posing in front of the mirror so that he does not get caught on camera in a way which does not flatter him.

I recommend this to all models starting out in the industry. Eamon can give me a call if he needs any more tips and tricks.”

Calls to the Green Party to assess whether Ryan is ready to drop the Dail for the catwalk were not returned.

Ham Sandwich Exclusive!

Posted in photography with tags , , , on May 10, 2008 by missliliphoto

here are some ancient shots I took of Ham Sandwich last November in The Village during one of their all age shows. It was a Sunday afternoon and I remember I wasn’t feeling the best (late night the night before) I had to do some backstage shots and people were drinking and smoking and I just felt so .. eugh….. Corina then bought me a yumsie peppermint tea in Insomnia to make me feel better and then all was good :) I love ham sandwich, so good to see them do so well these days.

MGMT..

Posted in photography with tags , , , , on May 7, 2008 by missliliphoto

I shot with MGMT today which was much much fun! Big thanks to Aideen for helping me out!! Was supposed to meet the boys at half 2… then after about 6 time and venue changes in the space of 10 mins, we were back to meeting at half 2 at the venue. A little stress can do no harm though. The boys were sooo lovely and I’m pretty pleased with the shots. It was kinda surreal because CSS were playing in the background doing their soundcheck. Never thought I’d be doing a shoot while CSS play live tunes right infront of me. awesome!

If anyone doesn’t know MGMT, you HAVE to check them out. They are AMAZING. I didn’t really know them before I got asked to do this shoot, but now I am in love.

Here are a few sneaky shots of CSS soundchecking. Who went to the gig was it amazing?

The Loose for AU

Posted in photography with tags , , on May 7, 2008 by missliliphoto

Here are some shots from a photoshoot I did with one of my favourite bands Republic of Loose recently. It was a lot of fun, and quite challenging seeing that there are a million members in the band (well 6.) I just love shooting bands, esp for magazines because you never know what’s going to happen and you always end up improvising, which can be a bit stressful, but always feels great if all goes well. Shooting bands for magazines is a funny one, I was thinking this today while shooting MGMT (loveliest guys ever.) I always thought magazine shoots take hours and hours. But in reality, the most you’d probably get with a band is 30 mins. It’s usually in or around the venue where they’d be playing that evening which sometimes aren’t very inspiring. But you have to make it look awesome. How fun is that!

some fun photees from the lovely weekend

Posted in photography with tags on May 6, 2008 by missliliphoto

I heart fisheye lens forever. Had such an amazing time this weekend with Jess and Sam coming over for a visit.  Jess and I did an awesome shoot on Monday which was so much fun. Love working with her. Jess move to Irlandia!! NoW! These photees were taken on the roof of Fitzimons before we and pigged out in Pinxtos. How amazing was the weather? Perfect for Coronas and pear Kopparberg. Yumsies.

NEMO

Posted in photography with tags , , , on May 6, 2008 by missliliphoto

I did a shoot with the gorgeous Nemo today. What a hottie! As everyone knows, I love shooting bikini/underwear and nudie photees. I always say I’m like a little old man because I love shooting girls without a lot of clothes on.  I love creating interesting shapes with the body and I love the way the light hits it in so many different ways.  At the same time, I HATE seeing sleezy photos of girls wearing lingerie or nude/semi nude. Cannot stand it. But I find it hard to describe what makes a shot sleezy what doesn’t. It’s difficult to put into words, but I think you see it right away. And it definitely has everything to do with the photographer rather than the model. Well that’s my opinion anyway.

Miss World for VIP

Posted in photography with tags , , , , , on May 2, 2008 by missliliphoto

I recently did a photoshoot with Zi Lin Zhang who is the current Miss World. We only had about 2 hours for the shoot as she was only in Ireland for 1 day and had so much to do. She was so great to work with so 2 hours was more than enough. Usually we’ll need the full day for a VIP shoot so I was a bit concerned when I heard I only had such little time with her. But all turned well so all good.

Fun times

Posted in photography on May 1, 2008 by missliliphoto

Went to Lillies to watch the match (thanks Thinkhouse :) and drink free booze and eat free food. Although I had just had lunch with Corina in Yamamori so wasn’t really that hungry. But there were yummy burgers, sausages, onion rings etc. and then yummy desserts! Funsies! It was just nice to meet up with the gang as I haven’t seen everyone in so long because of workie stuff. Think I’m gonna head up to Miss University later on tonight.  Can’t wait for the weekend one of my bestest friends Jessica is coming over for a few days and I haven’t seen her in ages. She works as a stylist in London so we are shooting together on Monday with the amazing Faye Can’t wait.

“You Shall Go to the Loose”

Posted in photography with tags , , , , on April 19, 2008 by missliliphoto

was the subject line of the e-mail I got yesterday from the person sorting out my guestlist last nite! (Thanks Francis @ AU! I heart AU!) So yay. Met up with Corina, Kata and Sarah last nite at Italian quarter after work for a glass of wine. Then Corina and I headed to the Academy to check out ROL. The place was JAMMERS. It was brilliant atmosphere and there was a great crowd there. Bumped into Kieron Delorentos and also spotted Mundy and a few other musicy people. ROL are a great great great band. I saw them live the first time maybe 5 years ago when they played in DIT during some rag week or something. To be honest, I didn’t think much of them back then. I also had to do a band portrait of them back then and I was really scared and they were really scary and grumpy. That’s all I remember. I still like that shot, I still have it up on my website. But all I remember was that I was so scared. ANYWAY, I think they have just improved and progressed somuch since then and they have become one of my favourite bands at the moment. Amazing gig last night. Don’t know who those special guests are. Can anyone tell me??
